Setup · MetaTrader 5
Ten minutes, and most of it is waiting for MetaTrader to install. Work through it in order — each step depends on the one before.
1 · The files
Your download has four files. Three go in one folder and one in another, and which folder matters — MetaTrader will not find them otherwise.
TnT_Apex_CLIENT.mq5
TnT_Apex_License.mqhTnT_Apex_Relay.mqh
TuneAndTrade_PanelHost.mq5
To find those folders: in MetaTrader, File › Open Data Folder, then open MQL5. Copy the files in, then go back to MetaTrader and press F7 (or right-click Navigator › Refresh).
The two .mqh files are pulled in automatically. Opening one and pressing F7
compiles it on its own, which fails with a message about an undeclared identifier. That is
not a fault in the file — it is simply not a thing that compiles alone.
2 · The one setting people miss
MetaTrader blocks programs from using the internet until you allow each address by hand. Without this, the strategy cannot check your licence and will say so.
Tools › Options › Expert Advisors, tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL, and add both of these:
If you skip this you will see "cannot check - allow WebRequest" in the log. The strategy keeps trading for a few days on trust rather than stopping dead, because a blocked request is our problem to explain, not your fault. But it is worth two minutes now.
3 · On a chart
The panel appears below the chart. It will say TRADING OFF, which is correct — it places nothing until you say so.
4 · The number that matters
In the inputs there is RiskPerTrade, in your account's currency. It is the most important setting and the only one you must think about.
The strategy works out the position size so that if the stop is hit, you lose that amount — whatever the instrument, whatever its tick size. That is what lets one file work on gold and a currency pair without different numbers.
Whatever figure you first think of, halve it for the first fortnight. You are not trying to make money yet; you are trying to find out what this does on your market, at your broker, with your spread. That costs something either way, and the only question is how much.
When it starts, the log prints what the stop and the targets are worth in money at the size it will actually trade. Read that line before you switch trading on. If those numbers look wrong, they are, and the fix is RiskPerTrade rather than anything else.
5 · Before real money
It runs unlicensed on a demo account by design. You do not need to pay to watch it. Most brokers will open one in a few minutes, and it is the same prices.
Leave it for a week or two with trading on. You are looking for three things:
After that you will have opinions worth acting on. Before it, nobody does — including us.
6 · If something is wrong
Everything this strategy refuses to do, it explains, in the Experts tab at the bottom of MetaTrader. Look there first — it is faster than asking us.
It needs enough history. Scroll the chart back to load more bars, or try a longer timeframe.
Step 2. Both addresses, exactly as written.
The lot ceiling is binding — the button will say CAPPED. Raise MaxLots if you mean to trade bigger.
There is a position on this symbol that this expert did not open, so it is not managing it — no stop, no targets. Close it by hand.
Anything else, email trader@tuneandtrade.com and paste the lines from the Experts tab. With them this usually takes one reply; without them it takes four.
